Southampton Soccer Intramural Program Basics
Intramural Soccer is played on Saturdays in the fall, generally starting the first Saturday after Labor Day and continuing for 10 or 11 weeks. All games are played at the fields on Gravel Hill Road. The youngest division is for 4 and 5 year olds (U-6, sometimes called Sprites) and is co-ed. Older kids play in either the girls IM league or the boys IM league, and age brackets generally span two years (U-8, U-10/11/12, U-14, U-16, U-18 - actual groups depend on registration numbers). Teams generally practice one evening during the week in addition to the Saturday games. The evening practice schedule is determined after coaches and teams are selected. Not all Sprites teams practice mid-week.
The cost for Intramural Soccer is $65.00 for U6, $85.00 for all U8-U14, and $100 for U16-U18 Intramural programs.
Southampton Soccer Intramural Summer Camp
A Summer Training Camp is also being offered to all Intramural players 6 through 13 years old. The Camp will run for three evenings in early August for two hours each evening at the Southampton Estates fields next to Dairy Queen on Street Road. Cost the Camp is $10.00. You can select this at the same time that you register for the Intramural Program.
Volunteers
SSA seeking some new "blood"– Any good volunteer organization is only as good as the volunteer help it can get. SSA is looking for some new volunteers to step up into leadership/board roles. As we completed the fall season, we need to start planning for next year and would like to get more people involved. People love to tell you what's wrong, but it takes a bigger person to step up and do some of the "heavy" lifting. If you have a desire to get more involved, please talk to a Board mbr or send us an email. There is plenty of work to go around; so if you have a little time or alot of time to give, please contact a Board Member or send us a note to southamptonsoccer@comcast.net.
US Soccer Federation's PASSBACK program
Cleaning out your closet - looking to help others??– If you are looking to get rid of some old uniforms or other soccer gear - SSA collects new & "gently used" soccer supplies and "passes" them on for others to use through the US Soccer Federation's PASSBACK program. Contact us to arrange drop-off or pick-up. Thanks for your consideration.
The Southampton Soccer Association was established in 1981 and endeavors to provide youth soccer players (ages 4-18) with a positive, enjoyable and safe experience in playing and learning about the game of soccer. By teaching our soccer players in the skills and fundamentals of the game, SSA hopes to enhance the level of talent in each and every player, and more importantly we strive to instill in all of our kids a sense of good sportsmanship, fellowship and commitment to the enjoyment of the game itself. >>>more
